Oncam Connect Device can be used to record video from non-Oncam cameras, allowing them to be integrated into the Oncam End-to-End Video Management Solution.
Connecting Oncam Connect
Your Oncam Connect device should be connected to your network via the Ethernet port labelled “Expansion Port” on the back panel.
If you are using a VM or your own non-Oncam hardware, use the appropriate Ethernet port on that device.
Your network should:
Have a DHCP server to automatically allocate an IP address to Oncam Connect.
Allow Oncam Connect access to the Internet via a connection that complies with Oncam IT requirements. Use the Network Test Tool to verify this. More details are available here
- Be on the same network as the cameras managed by Oncam Connect, so they can be automatically discovered.
Finding your IP address
Oncam Connect displays its network information on-screen. Connect a monitor to your Oncam Connect installation to view the IP address if needed.
Oncam Connect Registration
A new Oncam Connect installation must be registered before it can be used. Registration links the device to your Oncam organization.
You will need to contact Oncam Support at support@oncam.net and provide the following information.
The Device ID (the MAC address of the Expansion Port Ethernet interface). For custom installations, use the MAC address of the Ethernet interface connected to your network.
The name of the organization that Oncam Connect will join.
Finding your Device ID
The Device ID is the same as the MAC address of the Ethernet adapter connecting Oncam Connect to the network.
For Oncam Connect devices, the MAC address is printed on a label attached to the case.
For Oncam Connect installations on custom hardware, connect a monitor to view the Device ID displayed under Device Information.
Configuring Oncam Connect
Once Oncam Connect has been registered, it will appear with Oncam Core in Administration > Connectors. See this article here for more details on how to configure Oncam Connect.
